The Main Building of Cheong Wa Dae, which was subsequently completed in 1991, houses the private office of the President and other various function rooms. The name was derived from the fact that the main building was covered with blue roof tiles, which is one of the iconic cultural properties in Korea.青瓦台是大韓民國的總統府，位於首爾鐘路區世宗路一號。
1426年，朝鮮王朝建都漢城後，它被稱作景福宮後園;也曾做為科舉考場。
1927年，日本人在景福宮內新建了廳舍，並把總督官邸設在此地，將之改為朝鮮總督府。
1945年，變為軍政長官官邸。
1948年，大韓民國政府成立後改為總統府，最初稱為“景武台”，到了尹潽善時期便更名為“青瓦台”。
